No.... You're NOT Dreaming!!

Happy New Year!
How has it been a year since I last posted?  It has... time goes by so fast!
Here's to a new year, new goals, etc.... and besides... it's WAY too cold to go anywhere today, including my other job outside of Stampin' Up!, So I'll stay home and work!!  On goes my husband's fleece-y Star Wars pajama pants, a little Pandora radio, stove top popped popcorn and a Diet Coke.... I'm ready to roll!!
As usual, Stampin' Up! launches a new catalog and I'm so giddy I don't know what to do with myself... but seriously... it's amazing!!  Just the picture on the front makes me jump for joy!  Check it out below!

That little beauty (the bouquet on the front) is a kit - yup!  Page 29 of the catalog!!  Wanna make it?  So do I!!  Stay tuned for a class to do just that!!
And... let's NOT forget about the best SALE of the year... Sale-A-Bration.  Again, Stampin' Up! has some INCREDIBLE FREE, only available during Sale-A-Bration offerings with every $50 spent...

While you peruse the new catalogs, I'll get back to "work" on my card class for this month...
Stay warm friends!

This... is gonna be good!!

Since starting a full time job outside of SU, I knew that I needed to work on how to "balance" everything out.... I didn't realize that I had been pondering this since April of 2013!
Well, I kinda knew... but it was one of those things where you REALLY didn't want to look it in the face.... but with the new year and making resolutions, etc.... It's been on my mind....
After an early morning of waking up (even though the alarm didn't go off), scrolling through Pinterest, checking out what happened on Facebook and looking at email.... it dawned on me....
Get your tail up and do something!
Behold.... a post is born!
While I don't have any fun project to share with you today... I thought I could introduce the new Occasions Catalog and upcoming Sale-A-Bration promotion which have things that make me CRAZY! and are filled with must-haves!
(club ladies... I know what you're thinking.... I like it ALL... well, you're right, I do!)
Yes, I even remembered how to post the new catalogs on my page... so they're there for all to see... and btw... if you have NOT seen them yet, get busy!
In fact... here's a link to the Occasions Catalog good January 3 - June 1, 2014
the best SALE of the year....
Sale-A-Bration good January 28 - March 31, 2014
So... while I prepare myself for Leadership 2014... and figure out how to create "balance"....
I leave you with a promise to Create, Share and Inspire this year!

Floral Fusion Flower Fun!

Say that really fast... Floral Fusion Flower Fun!  It's catchy, right?
With my spring bulbs just about to open
(not like I'm checking them every 10 minutes or anything to immediately pop onto instagram and Facebook....) I have flowers on the brain!  So it was super simple to come up with this oh-so-simple card inspired by two challenges:  Freshly Made Sketches and Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge.
The following are the sketches that inspired today's card:
This card is also relevant since it pays tribute to two colors that will be retiring with Stampin' Up!'s Annual Catalog releasing June 1, 2013!
Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue will be retiring - so if these are favorites of yours, be sure to snap these colors up!!
Now that I've let the cat out of the bag and I sense the panic in your heart... I'll answer the question.... yes, there are other colors that are retiring too.
However I think that you'll be THRILLED to learn that quite of the few In-Colors that we all know and love are establishing permanent residency!!  YAY!!
Let's hear it for:
Calypso Coral
Wisteria Wonder
Pear Pizzaz
Pool Party
Blushing Bride
Island Indigo
and a couple of other In-Colors "BC" (that means Before Carol joined Stampin' Up!).
The following is a complete list of the Color Refresh.  Go ahead and print it off and start committing it to memory.... I have!
If you see a color you LOVE... be sure you stock up now!  Supplies are limited!
Oh... and if you order tomorrow,
April 6, 7 or 8, 2013...
shipping is FREE
(does NOT apply to expedited shipping).

Sorry.... I got a little excited!  Back to the card...
This card is so versatile and the sentiment easily changed to apply to anything really!
Quick Tips:
  • After cutting the flowers using the Big Shot and Floral Fusion Sizzlet, place a layer in the palm of your hand.  Using a bone folder, rub the flower - it will give those petals a little "lift" and add dimension to the card!
  • You HAVE to use those Large Rhinestones.... you know me and bling!  There's never enough (well, bling and polka dots.... I'm so predictable!  LOL)!!
  • Make yourself a cheater bow!!  Using glue dots, secure each end of the ribbon under the Whisper White layer, tie a bow with another piece of ribbon and adhere bow to the ribbon on card.  Even though this card features the ribbon all the way around the card, I'm suggesting you execute the cheater.... Trust me... it's easier this way
  • Use Glue Dots to secure the flowers and leaves from the Bird Builder Punch

Oh, Hello!

I just love Stampin' Up!'s Oh, Hello! stamp set!  It contains 3 sentiments (Oh, Hello!, Thanks so much and You're Invited) and 4 other images - one of which is featured on today's card.
If you've been following me, you know I enjoy participating in sketch challenges across the world wide web!  Well, I found a new site offering a sketch challenge that I'm tickled pink about!  It's called Chic Challenges!  How fun is that, right?
Here's a link to the sketch challenge and here's the sketch I'm working with today
Chic Challenges CC-01
I love the simplicity of the layout!  Thank you Chic Challenges!

I used Stampin' Up!'s sandable Card Stock called Core'dinations Card Stock in Early Espresso.  I embossed the back of the card with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder and lightly sanded the embossed edges with the Stampin' Sanding Block.  What a great look for a masculine card too!!
Quick Tips:
  • Because this particular embossing folder seems to leave a deeper impression with my Big Shot, I used No Tabs on my Multi-Purpose platform.  This way the Card Stock was less likely to tear once I rubbed the sanding block across the edges
  • Take the corner of that sanding block and create some texture inside the honeycombs!  While I love the texture of the paper itself, I think a little sanding adds just a little more dimension without doing anything fancy!
  • Typically I stamp then crop... for this project I cut the circles then stamped.  Since I was going to trim a little off the side, it made it easier to place the images
  • I used a dab of adhesive to adhere the circles together then cut both layers at the same time.  After that, I added my dimensionals
  • The Natural Trim knot... it's a cheater knot! Adhere your ribbon to the back of the layer (in this case, the Designer Series Paper layer) using Glue Dots. Snip a 4" piece of ribbon and tie it around the adhered piece - looks like it's all one piece! Trim the ends to the desired length
  • To color the flower, use your Classic Markers to color right onto the rubber.  I used Pretty in Pink for the flower and Lucky Limeade for the stem.  Be sure you "huff" on the image right before stamping to reactivate the ink as it might have dried during the coloring process
  • I used the Color Spritzer Tool and an Early Espresso Classic marker to distress the sentiment a little - I love that look!

Oh, Whale! for Freshy Made Sketches

I can't express in words how much I just love this Oh, Whale! stamp set from Stampin' Up!  It's the cutest thing ever!!  When I saw Freshly Made Sketches sketch challenge for the week, this card just kinda came together!!  Here's a picture of the sketch:
Not only is the Oh, Whale stamp set dar-ling.... there's a matching Clearlit, Designer Series Paper AND Jumbo Stampin'  Around wheel that coordinates with the stamp set!  What's a gal to do??
Here's a picture of the sizzlet (notice all the lil' embellishments that scream "use me!!":
Happy Whale Clearlits Die
You may be thinking.... "how in the heck am I going to adhere all those tiny pieces to my card (or scrapbook page)?"  Well, I have an "oh-so-technical" solution... check out my quick tips:
Quick Tips:
  • Make it easy to pick up little embellishments!  Take a toothpick and drag it through some tacky craft glue - I like Stampin' Up!'s Tombow "green" glue (it's not really green... the cap is).  I like it because when it dries, it's repositionable, unless you stick it where you want it to live....
  • Let that glue dry.... now you have a small "picker-upper"!!  Best part... you probably have the supplies to make this handy little tool now!!
  • When using the Stampin' Around Wheels, use a ruler as a guide to keep your design straight
  • Instead of wrapping your ribbon all the way around your card, simply adhere a glue dot at each end and wrap it around your accent piece!  It keeps the ribbon super secure and saves you on ribbon!  Snip an extra little piece of ribbon and tie around the main ribbon to make yourself a "cheater knot"!
  • I did a little paper piercing around the Oval Frame just to add a little more texture
